The Tudor Beasts were created during the reign of Henry VIII to legitimize the Tudor dynasty through the symbolic traits carried by each of the ten distinct beasts. Five of the beasts belonged to the King and the other five to the Queen. The Tudor Beasts bullion series features one of each of the ten heraldic beasts. The first coin features the Lion of England. The second release features the Yale of Beaufort (designed by David Lawrence). Each release has a limited mintage and comes with the Royal Mint’s bullion standard finish. The Tudor Beasts Yale of Beaufort coins are also available in platinum and gold coins.
The Yale of Beaufort symbolized Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of king Henry VII.
